The Boston Bruins have a playoff game tonight, and they'd like you to wake the (expletive) up. The Bruins begin their quest for the Cup at TD Garden on Thursday night in Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Continue to Article

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand doesn't believe for a second that the window is closing on the team's chances to win another Stanley Cup championship with the core that etched its name on the trophy in 2011. One of five members of the last Bruins team to won it all - they also returned to the Cup finals two years later - Marchand insisted there's no special push to win before 42-year-old defenseman Zdeno Chara skates into retirement ''That guys going to play until he's 50,'' Marchand said with a laugh. Taking a veteran player out a playoff lineup as a healthy scratch always is difficult, especially for someone like Backes. The 34-year-old winger is a tremendous leader, plays the type of physical hockey B's fans love, and has 67 games of postseason experience on his résumé. Continue to Article

In an interesting twist, Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy isn't making any secrets about the strategy for his team headed into Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series with the Toronto Maple Leafs. It's already been there when you read between the lines with big, physical players David Backes and Connor Clifton appearing to be healthy scratches while faster players Karson Kuhlman and Steve Kampfer looking as if they'll be in the lineup. It's an interesting decision given that the choices of speed and skill would seem to be playing right into the strengths of a Toronto Maple Leafs team hoping to play run-and-fun hockey.
