Columbus
Sometimes you can't help but think that we're all just writing off the Columbus Blue Jackets without one puck being dropped in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tampa is simply that good, and the reason why the secondary race (other than making the playoffs) was to finish in the first wildcard and avoid the unstoppable force in the first round. Sure, there might be that immovable object later down the line for Tampa, but Columbus certainly isn't it. Continue to Article

For once, Alex Ovechkin and the rest of the Washington Capitals head into the NHL playoffs without having to hear - and answer - so many of those same old same olds. Now the Capitals embark on a back-to-back bid by hosting Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. Fortunately for the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team called KalPa in the Finnish hockey league completed its season last month well below the line to make the playoffs. Alexandre Texier, a 19-year-old center, scored in overtime to win KalPa's finale on March 14 . Then he packed up and headed to North America, making his continental debut with the Blue Jackets' top farm team two days after he stepped off the ice in Finland. Continue to Article

Columbus
Through an odd, erratic season for the Columbus Blue Jackets, nobody has had a bumpier ride than star goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. ”Bob” and the Blue Jackets won six of his last seven starts, including three shutouts and a shootout on Friday night that saw him stop all three attempts as Columbus beat the New York Rangers 3-2 win to secure the second Eastern Division wildcard. The Blue Jackets open the playoffs on Wednesday in Tampa against the formidable Lightning. Continue to Article
