Cleveland
When Draymond Green finishes the first two possessions with triples and Stephen Curry scores 40 points, it's hard for the Warriors to lose. The Warriors had a much easier time one night earlier in Los Angeles, taking less than five minutes to build a double-digit lead they never lost and coasting to a 108-90 rout of the Lakers. The Warriors shot a respectable 39.1 percent from deep against the Lakers, and bumped up to an amazing 54.1 percent against the Cavaliers. Continue to Article

Erik Gudbranson didn't want to be ”that guy,” the one who whooped it up after the Pittsburgh Penguins locked down a playoff spot for the 13th straight year with a win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. The veteran defenseman knows seasons in Pittsburgh are judged solely on whether they end with a mid-June parade through downtown, and that securing one of the 16 spots in the Stanley Cup tournament is just one small step in the process. The San Antonio Spurs know what they have to do to avoid top-seeded and two-time defending champion Golden State in the first round of the NBA playoffs: keep winning games and hope Oklahoma City falters at least once over the final week of the regular season. "You have to go out there and play extremely hard, no matter who you're playing against until the playoffs," Spurs forward DeMar DeRozan said. Continue to Article

The Golden State Warriors were given a delay of game warning on Friday, because former star Nick Young spent too long celebrating with his championship ring. Young, who is without a team at present, returned to Oakland this week to be presented with his ring for last season's NBA title triumph ahead of the game against Cleveland Cavaliers, beaten finalists in 2017-18. Star man Stephen Curry was bemused by the call and joked that Young should have instead been punished for the late start before the Cavs were put to the sword 120-114. Continue to Article

Golden State took another step toward securing the top seed in the West, yet coach Steve Kerr has some legitimate concerns as the Warriors close in on the postseason. Specifically, Kerr is bothered by the Warriors' turnovers and rebounding, two issues that cropped up again and turned what looked to be another blowout into a closer-than-needed 120-114 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. Draymond Green understands Kerr's reasoning, but thinks the two-time defending NBA champs will be just fine once the playoffs begin. Continue to Article
