Artemi Panarin scored in the shootout and the Blue Jackets earned their third straight trip to the postseason with a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Friday night. ''We were one goal away still, so whether it comes in overtime or the shootout, it doesn't matter where you get it,'' Columbus' Matt Duchene said. Ryan Dzingel and Panarin scored in the third period for Columbus and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 shots through overtime and all three Rangers attempts in the tiebreaker. Continue to Article

The New York Islanders' division championship drought was extended to 30 seasons Thursday night. The 75-year-old will reportedly stay with the organization as an advisor, but how involved he'll actually be in day-to-day operations is not yet known. Continue to Article

Malkin has missed eight games with an upper-body injury and watched from afar as Pittsburgh failed to lock up a playoff spot in a 4-1 loss to the Red Wings on Tuesday. The Penguins need just two points over their final two games or a single loss by Montreal to extend their postseason streak to 13 straight, but they have struggled to score of late. While Pittsburgh is 4-2-2 during Malkin's absence, the Penguins have scored more than two goals just three times. Continue to Article
