Oakland
As you are no doubt aware by now, before he was the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner as the quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners, Kyler Murray was selected by the Athletics as an outfielder in the 2018 draft. You also know that he chose football, turning down the A's and the nearly $5 million signing bonus they offered him in order to pursue his NFL dreams. Today Monte Poole of NBC Bay Area has a column on Murray's choice and (a) what it means for the NFL; and (b) what Murray could have meant for the Oakland A's. Continue to Article

Mike Minor twirled seven shutout innings, and the Texas Rangers claimed the rubber match of their three-game series against the Houston Astros with a 4-0 victory on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas. Minor (1-0) allowed five hits and issued two walks while recording seven strikeouts. He became the first Texas pitcher to work six innings this season by inducing a pair of ground-ball double plays and working around leadoff batters reaching base in the first, fifth and sixth innings. Red Sox vs. Athletics lineups: Brock Holt replaces Xander Bogaerts at shortstop originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com The Red Sox's starting pitching was the main issue in their first series of the season against the Seattle Mariners, but in Oakland it's been Boston's lineup that has faltered. The Red Sox have been shut out in back-to-back games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, most recently in a 1-0 loss Tuesday night. The Red Sox scored 24 runs in four games versus the Mariners, but the Athletics have been remarkably effective silencing Boston's talented hitters. Continue to Article
