The Metropolitan Division will be on the line Thursday as the Washington Capitals host the Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m., NBC Sports Washington). The Caps had a chance to lock-up the division on Monday, but failed in a 5-3 loss to the Florida Panthers. John Tavares didn't just set a new career-high for points with 87 when he scored a goal against his former team, beefing up what was already a career-high for goals to 46. John Tavares will make his second trek to Long Island this season, and the reception he'll likely receive on Monday night likely won't be much nicer than the first. Tavares and the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs bid to tune out the noise and clinch a playoff berth on Monday when they visit the New York Islanders. The Nashville Predators scored in each period and goaltender Pekka Rinne was sharp Friday in a 3-1 victory over the host Pittsburgh Penguins. Craig Smith and P.K. Subban each had a goal and an assist, and Viktor Arvidsson also scored for Nashville (44-28-6), which won its second in a row and is 5-1-1 in its past seven. Jordan Eberle had a feeling the New York Islanders could pull off a comeback against the Winnipeg Jets - even when the situation appeared dire. Eberle certainly did his part to make it happen.
