Kristaps Porzingis, the All-Star Dallas Maverick and former big man of the New York Knicks, is under investigation by the New York Police Department for an alleged rape that took place in his Manhattan apartment in 2018 (when he still played for the Knicks). The police reportedly see the accuser is “believable,” while Porzingis' attorney vehemently denied the claim, saying the woman had tried to extort money from Porzingis and they had reported the situation to the NBA and FBI. Fred Hoiberg, the former NBA player who coached Iowa State and the Chicago Bulls, was hired Saturday to coach a Nebraska team that had big hopes this season but finished with a 19-17 record and out of the NCAA Tournament yet again. Hoiberg has strong ties to the school, which announced his hiring four days after seventh-year coach Tim Miles was fired. Nebraska hired former Chicago Bulls and Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg as its basketball coach on Saturday, giving him a seven-year deal worth $25 million, the school announced. Hoiberg, who was born in Lincoln, Neb., reportedly first was approached about the position in February, when Tim Miles was still coaching the team.
