Columbus
With Columbus slipping into a sudden offensive malaise in the second period, Sergei Bobrovsky kept the Blue Jackets in the game and in the race for a playoff spot. The goalie played one his best games of the season, shutting down an unrelenting Carolina offensive attack in the second and allowing the Blue Jackets to hang on for a 3-0 win Friday night. Bobrovsky stopped 22 shots in the second period on the way to a season-high 46 saves and his sixth shutout of the season. Continue to Article

Charlie Coyle scored on a tipped puck in front of the net off a Zdeno Chara point shot with less than three minutes to go in the game to turn it into a one-goal game for the final few minutes, but that's as close as the Bruins would get in a 4-3 loss. The Bruins have now lost three regulation games in a row for the first time since earlier this season in December, and the B's are really showing the lack of depth and explosiveness based on the scorers they're missing out of the lineup. Coyle scored his first goal as a member of the Bruins in the third period when he camped in front of the net and tipped home a Zdeno Chara shot from the point. Continue to Article

Carlo showing some important gains in his game for Bruins originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com With the Stanley Cup playoffs just about a month away, the Bruins definitely have the long-term view and short-term view going at the same time. One eye is on the opponent they're facing that particular night and the other on preparing for the postseason and making certain they're at their best when the big games come in April, May and possibly June. Perhaps nobody on the B's roster is more in keeping with that balance than young defenseman Brandon Carlo, who is coming into his own this season while preparing for his first experience with the Stanley Cup playoffs.
