To little surprise, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman rejected Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek's appeal, thus upholding Voracek's two-game suspension. Voracek, 29, sought to appeal that suspension for an interference hit on New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk. The Columbus Blue Jackets added some major firepower during the trade deadline, but for the most part, those additions haven't really paid off. Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Sunday for interference against New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk. Voracek was assessed a major penalty for interference in the third period of the Flyers' 5-2 road victory over the Islanders on Saturday night. The suspension will cost him $88,710. Johnny Boychuk made a vow to Jakub Voracek as he was skating off the ice following a devastating interference hit from the latter on Saturday night in Long Island. “I will get you,” he appeared to mouth at Voracek, who was already in the penalty box for his early third-period transgression. But the announcement that the Columbus Blue Jackets are starting Sergei Bobrovsky against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday is a pretty big deal because when these two teams met just two nights ago in Pittsburgh, the Blue Jackets not only opted to not start their top goalie, they did not even dress him as the backup. He was not an option at all for what was to that point the biggest game of the season. It was such an eye-opening move because Bobrovsky has struggled horribly against the Penguins over the past couple of years, and the decision to go with backup Joonas Korpisalo seemed to indicate that maybe the team didn't have faith in their starter in this particular matchup.
