After two home wins to open March, the San Jose Sharks will look to keep rolling when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The homestretch of the regular-season schedule is almost literally a home stretch for San Jose, as 11 of the Sharks' 15 games in March will be played in their own building. With so many home games coming up, the Sharks (39-19-8, 86 points) could have an advantage as they chase Calgary (89 points) for first place in the Pacific Division, and the top playoff seed in the Western Conference as a whole. A home game against a tired team is just the kind of opportunity the San Jose Sharks can't afford to squander if they want to catch first-place Calgary. After two mostly lackluster periods against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Sharks turned it on in the third and closed in on the Flames in the Pacific Division race. Joe Thornton set up Marcus Sorensen for a tiebreaking goal early in the third period and Melker Karlsson tacked on two insurance goals that sent the Sharks to a 5-2 victory over the Blackhawks on Sunday night. It's the fourth time in five games the Blackhawks failed to hold a lead at any point in the game despite scoring at least three goals in four of them. But quite frankly, it's the primary reason they've lost four of those five games since winning 10 of their previous 12. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins started quickly - and then just kept going against the Montreal Canadiens. Crosby had a goal and three assists, Jake Guentzel scored two goals and had two assists and the Penguins cruised to a 5-1 victory Saturday night. Every unearned point could be a dagger for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are scrambling to get into the playoffs with 18 games remaining, including one Saturday against the Canadiens in Montreal. Pittsburgh fell to 1-1-2 in their past four games when they took a 4-3 overtime time in Buffalo on Friday despite leading the Sabres with less than three minutes left in regulation.
