The visiting Blue Jackets (36-26-3, 75 points) look to get back on track Tuesday when they vie for a season sweep of the New Jersey Devils in Newark, N.J. Although Columbus' swoon has dropped the club two points behind Montreal and Pittsburgh for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, captain Nick Foligno didn't find much fault with the Blue Jackets' performance in Sunday's 5-2 setback versus Winnipeg. "It's hard to pick that game apart, because I thought we did a lot of good things," Foligno said after scoring a goal against the Jets and seeing his team register a season-high 42 shots on goal. "We dictated play for a lot of it, (but) it's not a good feeling. Continue to Article

Blake Wheeler scored four goals against Columbus, but it was the Winnipeg captain's prettiest of the evening - a well-placed shot on an odd-man rush late in the game - that really deflated the Blue Jackets. The goal off Patrik Laine's feed with 2:13 left put the Jets up 4-2, and Wheeler added an empty-netter with 34 seconds left on the way to a 5-2 win over Columbus on Sunday night. Wheeler was in the right place at the right time on the first two goals, getting deflections off the sticks of teammates shooting from the point. Continue to Article

Allow me to summarize the good things that happened for the Columbus Blue Jackets this weekend: at least the Canadiens didn't pry a standings point in losing to the Penguins on Saturday. After falling 4-0 to the struggling Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, the Blue Jackets fell 5-2 to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. In a time where every game really counts, Columbus managed zero of a possible four points during those two games. Continue to Article

Winnipeg Jets winger Adam Lowry has been suspended two games for high-sticking Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators in Friday's game, the NHL has announced. Lowry will not be paid during the suspension, losing $31,362 in salary. He received a minor penalty for the third-period infraction at the time of the offense. Continue to Article

New Jersey
It wasn't nearly as exciting or as well-executed as many of the Bruins wins over their 16-game point streak, but the Bruins avoided the trap and took care of business in a 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. In fact all of the scoring was done in the first three minutes of the game when Brad Marchand scored a power play goal. It was a thing of beauty with Patrice Bergeron firing a backhanded, no-look pass to Marchand for a one-timer snapped under the crossbar for his 27th goal of the season, and the rest of the game was a gritty, blue collar game of defense, physicality and big boy hockey.
