New Jersey
The Philadelphia Flyers continued their second-half playoff push with a little hustle, a little luck and of course, another new goaltender. Travis Konecny and Sean Couturier scored in a 57-second span bridging the second and third periods and the Flyers set an NHL record by using an eighth different goaltender in posting a 6-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. ''Every point is huge for us right now so we just want to keep doing our job and taking care of our business and we'll see where things stack up at the end of the year,'' said James van Riemsdyk, who like Konecny scored two goals. Marcus Johansson: 'A little weird' to play against Devils originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com Marcus Johansson has been a member of the Boston Bruins for just two games. The versatile winger was acquired from the New Jersey Devils just ahead of the 2019 NHL trade deadline and has slotted in alongside David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk on the Bruins' second line. In the third game of Johansson's Bruins career, he is going to be facing a familiar foe, his former team, the Devils. Continue to Article

Boston
Several Bruins players have stepped up in the absence of leading scorer David Pastrnak, but none more prominently than second-year winger Jake DeBrusk. The left wing became a 20-goal scorer for the first time in his NHL career earlier this week and he was at it again in Thursday night's impressive 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, potting Boston's first goal of the game. It was DeBrusk's seventh goal and 12th point in the last eight games, which have pretty much coincided with Pastrnak's thumb injury. Continue to Article

MORE HAGGERTY - Talking Points: Acciari takes a bite out of Tampa Bay Still, it feels different now after watching the Bruins dismantle the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 while led by forward scoring depth, special teams and a group of players who outshot the Bolts, 41-21. The victory not only gave the B's a statement win against the Tampa Bay team they're distantly chasing in the Atlantic Division, but also handed red-hot Boston their 15th consecutive game with a point. "I think we're confident right now, which that goes a long way when everybody is feeling good about themselves. Continue to Article

Boston
Yes, it is also true that the Lightning have almost nothing to play for at this point in the season having pretty much wrapped up the Presidents' Trophy and top seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Bruins are still competing to secure home-ice advantage in the first round. Of course the Bruins were going to be the team with some extra motivation. But none of that should take away from Boston's convincing 4-1 win over the Lightning because this was a complete and total beatdown of the league's best team, and a pretty big statement that the Bruins are also a force to be reckoned with at the top of the Eastern Conference.
