The Montreal Canadiens will be trying to win their third consecutive game Saturday night when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs, their old rival who themselves will be attempting to stop a three-game losing streak. The Maple Leafs finished a 3-2-1 trip with two losses in a row then lost the opener of a four-game homestand Thursday night, 3-2 to the Washington Capitals. "We actually skated probably better than I thought after coming back off the trip," Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock told reporters. Continue to Article

New York Rangers teammates Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello are on the trading block, with the trade deadline coming up on Monday. The Rangers have two games before then -- Saturday afternoon at home against the New Jersey Devils, and Sunday at the Washington Capitals -- with Hayes and Zuccarello still expected to be in the lineup, for now. "As I stand here now, guys that are on the roster will be in the lineup until I'm told differently," Rangers coach David Quinn told reporters after Friday's practice. Continue to Article

The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced on Wednesday afternoon that Philadelphia Flyers defender Radko Gudas has been suspended two games for a high-sticking incident that took place on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Gudas was assessed a two-minute minor for high-sticking Nikita Kucherov, the NHL's leading-scorer, in the third period of the Lightning's 5-2 win when he brought his stick down over Kucherov's head with a two-handed swing. The DoPS said that while it agreed with Gudas' assessment that it was not an overly violent swing, it was still an act that warranted a penalty during the play and some sort of supplemental discipline, whether it be a warning, fine or suspension. The Pittsburgh Penguins seem to be getting their act together for a playoff push and one clear sign of that is finally finding a way to beat the New Jersey Devils. Bryan Rust scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the second period and the Penguins avoided the embarrassment of being swept by the lowly Devils with a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night. ''Even last year, it was kind of the same way,'' said Zach Aston-Reese, who scored for the Penguins along with Chad Ruhwedel and Nick Bjugstad. Continue to Article

It appears Matt Duchene's days as an Ottawa Senator are numbered. The dynamic forward will be held out of Thursday's game against the New Jersey Devils as the Feb. 25 NHL trade deadline looms in the close horizon, a report from TSN's Darren Dreger suggested on Tuesday. Duchene was brought to the club just last season in a blockbuster three-team deal that saw the Senators ship out Kyle Turris to Nashville and send their first-round pick in the coming 2019 NHL Draft to Colorado, among other pieces.
