It appears Matt Duchene's days as an Ottawa Senator are numbered. The dynamic forward will be held out of Thursday's game against the New Jersey Devils as the Feb. 25 NHL trade deadline looms in the close horizon, a report from TSN's Darren Dreger suggested on Tuesday. Duchene was brought to the club just last season in a blockbuster three-team deal that saw the Senators ship out Kyle Turris to Nashville and send their first-round pick in the coming 2019 NHL Draft to Colorado, among other pieces. Alex DeBrincat had the best game of his career, and the Chicago Blackhawks needed all of his production. DeBrincat had three goals and two assists, and the Blackhawks held on to beat the Ottawa Senators 8-7 on Monday night for their ninth win in 11 games. As the National Hockey League trade deadline rolls around the Ottawa Senators have decided to make Matt Duchene available for trade, while they try to make an extension work with Mark Stone, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. With the Senators now actively shopping the centre, Friedman believes the market for his services will become more lively in the upcoming days. The San Jose Sharks have been one of the most dominant teams in the league over the past two months and will be getting even more good news on Saturday night when defender Erik Karlsson makes his return to the lineup after missing the team's past nine games. Karlsson last appeared in a game for the Sharks on Jan. 16 and had playing some of his best hockey of the season prior to the injury, recording 28 points over the previous 20 games.
