On Friday night, our beloved Philadelphia Flyers mascot was a question on Jeopardy! This caps another banner week for the popular rookie mascot, who was also involved in the popular Overwatch League opening night ceremony in California just a day ago, where he was met with a rousing ovation. The Tampa Bay Lightning have been so much better than everyone else in the NHL this season, even the smallest flaw is pounced on by critics. When the Lightning scored just eight goals in their first five games coming out of their bye week and the All-Star break, there were questions about what was wrong with their offense. The Lightning responded with a four-game winning streak in which they scored 22 goals, including a 6-0 victory Thursday night against visiting Dallas that extended Tampa Bay's points streak to eight games. There were many fine (and not-so-fine) plays to take away from Tampa Bay's 6-0 onslaught of the Stars on Thursday, but this straight-up insulting display of puck control and finish by the Lightning captain was in a realm of its own. With the Bolts already up five-zip and on a power play near the end of the second frame, it was ankle-breaking time for Stamkos who buried his second of the game after sending Andrew Cogliano flying into the boards with a vicious head fake. Evgeni Malkin did not play in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night because he was serving a one-game suspension for violently swinging his stick at Philadelphia Flyers forward Michael Raffl. For Malkin, the play resulted in his second match penalty of the season and even though there is some debate as to where the stick actually hit Raffl, it was still an ugly incident that warranted a suspension. On Friday, Malkin spoke about the suspension, and while he accepted his punishment, he made it clear that he was not happy with the circumstances surrounding the event, while also accusing Raffl of taking a dive.
