On a night where new faces sprinkled Memphis' rotation, an old vet carried the Grizzlies to their first victory of a new era. Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points, Rudy Gobert had 21 points and 13 rebounds and the Utah Jazz beat the San Antonio Spurs 125-105 on Saturday. Royce O'Neale tied his season high with 17 points and made all four of his 3-point attempts to help the Jazz claim their third win in their last four games. DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 15 for the Spurs, who have lost four in a row on their eight-game trip while their home arena hosts a 17-day stock show and rodeo. Bickerstaff said Saturday that when Parsons comes back, ''he's a part of the team like anybody else. Continue to Article

Memphis

At first that was due to knee injuries, but he's been medically cleared since Dec. 21 and only been kept out as Memphis tried to trade him. The problem is that injury history — Parsons has played in 73 of a possible 220 games since he came to Memphis — combined with the fact he is owed a fully guaranteed $25 million next season made moving him impossible, especially since Memphis would not attach a first-round pick as a sweetener to the deals.
