Tyler Johnson had a key goal and a tussle with Sidney Crosby, too. Johnson and J.T. Miller scored third-period goals as the Tampa Bay Lightning stopped a rare two-game skid with a 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. After Johnson got his first goal in 15 games just under five minutes into the period, Miller gave Tampa Bay a 5-3 lead with 5:57 remaining. Continue to Article

It's a points-grab time of the season, according to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins, who meet Saturday at Amalie Arena. In two of their last three games, the Flyers put themselves in position to fight back and tie the game in the third period. Against the Kings Thursday night, the Flyers were forced to play catch-up once again, and it eventually caught up to them in a 3-2 shootout loss (see observations). The Flyers were actually celebrating a ninth straight win until video review conclusively determined that Adrian Kempe's shootout attempt hit the back of the net and not the crossbar. On the day he turned 56, Scott Gordon recalls one of the worst birthdays of his life originally appeared on nbcsportsphiladelphia.com VOORHEES, N.J. - Scott Gordon was hoping he could leave the Skate Zone Wednesday with very little fanfare. The Flyers' interim head coach made it clear he wanted his 56th birthday to be just like any other day with no acknowledgement. Perhaps the emotional high of an eight-game winning streak is celebration enough for any coach. Continue to Article
