Of all the people flying in to attend Lindsey Vonn's final race — her dad and two siblings, U.S. Ski Team top brass and even Swedish great Ingemar Stenmark — one very significant other will be missing. P.K. Subban, Vonn's boyfriend and a defenseman for the NHL's Nashville Predators, has a game to play in Tennessee on Sunday hours after Vonn bids skiing goodbye in the downhill at the world championships in Sweden. “I would've liked to be there for that and celebrate with her,” Subban told The Associated Press. The Nashville Predators have traded Emil Pettersson to the Arizona Coyotes for forwards Laurent Dauphin and Adam Helewka. The Predators announced the deal Friday. Pettersson, 25, has 33 goals in 49 games with the Predators' AHL affiliate in Milwaukee this season, and the 6-foot-2, 170-pound native of Sundsvall, Sweden, originally was a sixth-round pick by Nashville in the 2013 entry draft. The Tampa Bay Lightning will take their second shot at becoming the first NHL team to reach the 40-win plateau when they host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night. Tampa Bay (39-11-3, 81 points) fell for the fourth time in eight games overall (4-3-1) and the first time in five shootouts this season in Tuesday's 3-2 setback versus Vegas. Star forward Steven Stamkos lamented losing a multi-goal advantage in the opener of the Lightning's three-game homestand, a rare occurrence during the team's route to the league's best record. St. Louis
“We haven't been perfect, but we are starting to get back into this fight and I am confident that we are going to play in the playoffs because of the way we work,” O'Reilly said on Thursday, via NHL.com's Shawn P. Roarke. Take a look at the crowded Western Conference bubble races and you can see some reasons for optimism, but also the considerable hurdles the Blues must clear. Interestingly, the Blues have better than 50-percent odds at Money Puck (52.93-percent) and Corsica (57.5), but are at just 24 percent according to projections from Dom Luszczyszyn of The Athletic (sub required). The Los Angeles Kings will head into the NHL All-Star break and their bye week on a winning note following a 4-3 come-from-behind victory against the St. Louis Blues Monday. Paul LaDue, who hadn't played for the Kings since Dec. 29, scored 9:53 into the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and give the LA the lead — a lead they would not relinquish. The Blues entered the game on a positive swing after grabbing points in six of their previous seven games. Continue to Article
