Now, the Capitals will look to push the winning streak to three against the Panthers. Florida is coming off an impressive win of its own, a 3-2 overtime win against Pittsburgh on Thursday. Here's everything you need to know about the Saturday night matchup, which takes place at 7:00 p.m. Continue to Article

OK, that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but that last route was the one the Washington Capitals chose in a 4-3 OT win against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. First, Avs defenseman Ian Cole delivered a highly questionable hit on star Caps center Evgeny Kuznetsov. Tom Wilson did not take kindly to that hit, so he “rained rights” on Cole. Continue to Article

Colorado has lost 10 of 12 and is the NHL's worst team since Dec. 7. Colorado is 5-15-4 in that time, going from tied for the most points in the Western Conference to out of a playoff position. Colin Wilson's tying goal with 2:07 left was worth a single point to get the Avalanche to 14 since Dec. 7, still the lowest total in the league. Continue to Article

Not that this is news, but these are dark times for the Ottawa Senators.  Erik Karlsson was traded before the season began, they have yet to re-sign their two best forwards in Mark Stone and Matt Duchene, sparking speculation about one or both of them being traded as well, and they are dead last in the NHL.  That last bit of news would be a silver lining for some rebuilding teams, but Ottawa is in the unique situation of being a rebuilding squad without their first round pick (that pick belongs to the Colorado Avalanche). The potential embarrassment of winning the draft lottery and watching the Avalanche use that pick has become a more and more likely scenario as of late.  Ottawa extended its losing streak to five games on Wednesday with its 5-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.  With that, Ottawa is 19-29-5 this season, which is four points worse than the next lowest team, the New Jersey Devils (20-25-7).  If Ottawa does trade either Duchene or Stone, it would of course only make the chances of finishing in the basement more likely, but it might be a step the Senators have to take if the alternative is watching either forward walk away for nothing over the summer.
