The Washington Capitals finally won a hockey game — their first since Jan. 10 — after they returned to the ice following the NHL All-Star Weekend and their league-mandated five-day break. The time off seemed to serve them well. The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Jordan Martinook to a two-year contract extension worth an average of $2 million per season. General manager Don Waddell said Tuesday that Martinook's extension will begin next season. The 26-year-old Martinook has 10 goals and three assists in 50 games while leading the team with 125 hits and blocking 28 shots – the most by a Carolina forward. Continue to Article

Muzzin, a 29-year-old from Woodstock, Ont., has four goals and 17 assists in 50 games this season —his seventh with the Kings. It's no secret that the Maple Leafs have been in search of an experienced right-handed defenceman, with management and scouting personnel making headlines last week after attending a number of Carolina Hurricanes games over the past couple months.
