The Colorado Avalanche are struggling, so coach Jared Bednar decided to try to spread the wealth. Bednar's experimented before, but in the last instance, it just meant moving Gabriel Landeskog off of the team's explosive first line, giving Tyson Jost and others opportunities to stick with stars Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. Pekka Rinne stopped a penalty shot in making 35 saves and the Nashville Predators knocked off the reeling Colorado Avalanche 4-1 on Monday to help Peter Laviolette capture win No. 600 of his NHL coaching career. Nick Bonino and Viktor Arvidsson scored 1:34 apart in the second period, while Roman Josi added another and Ryan Ellis contributed a late empty-netter from deep in his zone. The Predators maintained their mastery of the Avalanche, beating their Central Division rivals for a 12th time over the last 13 regular-season meetings. Continue to Article

The success on the ice quickly returned and so will Mikko Rantanen. Another score - along with a big exhale - for the struggling Colorado Avalanche. Rantanen scored two of Colorado's franchise record-tying six second-period goals, Semyon Varlamov stopped 30 shots and the Avalanche routed the Los Angeles Kings 7-1 on Saturday. Continue to Article
