Chicago
In 37 games under head coach Jeremy Colliton, the Blackhawks are 12-18-6, and while Patrick Kane is playing like he may threaten his career highs in a number of categories, defensively the team hasn't been able to stop the goals from going in. With Corey Crawford out indefinitely, the duo of Cam Ward and Collin Delia haven't been difference-makers. Offensively, they've been unable to get goals at the right times. Continue to Article

Victor Hedman scored the only goal in the shootout Friday night as the Tampa Bay Lightning edged the host New York Islanders 1-0. The Lightning have alternated wins with losses in their last seven games. The Islanders have lost two straight but only five of their last 20 (15-3-2). Continue to Article

The Chicago Blackhawks might be a longshot to make the playoffs this season, but Patrick Kane is certainly doing his part to keep them competitive. Following a milestone evening, the eight-time All-Star will try to help the visiting Blackhawks record a season-high fourth consecutive victory Saturday night against the Minnesota Wild. It makes it even better,'' Kane said. The 30-year-old from south Buffalo put on a show by scoring two goals and two assists in blasting through the milestone during a 7-3 win over the Sabres on Friday night. Continue to Article

The Dallas Stars opened the second half of the season in much the same way they wrapped up play prior to the All-Star break - producing little to no offense and getting spectacular goaltending. Friday's contest will be the finale of a six-game homestand for Dallas, that was wrapped around the break, with the Stars losing the first three outings before winning the next two, including a 1-0 victory over Buffalo on Wednesday in which goalie Ben Bishop turned away 30 shots to earn his third shutout of the season. "If we can get a 1-0 win, we'll take it, because some nights we're going to need some more 1/8goals 3/8 and these guys are going to be there for us," Bishop said, according to nhl.com, after securing the 27th shutout of his 12-year career.
