Anthony Davis sat in street clothes for much of the New Orleans Pelicans' loss to the Denver Nuggets. A week before the NBA's trade deadline, the New Orleans Pelicans are in no rush to grant Anthony Davis' trade request, general manager Dell Demps is reportedly not even picking up his phone to consider potential offers and coach Alvin Gentry insisted that the five-time All-Star is still an integral part of the team, but the organization is sure acting as if Davis will never play in New Orleans again. In the hours after the team scrubbed Davis from its pregame introduction video montage, The New York Times' Marc Stein reported that, while the Pelicans have not officially shelved Davis for good, they are considering sitting him out through the Feb. 7 deadline and for the remainder of the season. Alvin Gentry played down the absence of Anthony Davis on a pre-game video prior to a defeat to the Denver Nuggets but gave no guarantees the wantaway All-Star will play for the New Orleans Pelicans again. There was no sign of Davis, who is sidelined with a fractured finger, on the big screen in a video before a 105-99 home loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday. Pelicans head coach Gentry said he was not aware of the situation relating to the video, or the fact Davis - linked with the Los Angeles Lakers - was not on the bench in the final quarter. On Monday, the Memphis Grizzlies lost in devastating fashion, blowing a 25-point lead at home to the Denver Nuggets while watching multiple late chances to take the lead at the end fall painfully short. Wednesday on the road wasn't much better, as the Minnesota Timberwolves won on a late prayer thrown up by Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns puts Grizzlies away in front of their bench The game was tied at 97 with five seconds remaining when Andrew Wiggins pulled up for a 20-foot jump shot that caromed off the back of the rim, seemingly destined to send the game to double-overtime. It appears we have reached the “deleting photos of each other” stage of the breakup currently ensuing between Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. As the Pelicans took the floor at home against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, the team's intro video was very conspicuously missing Davis in a picture of the entire team shown at the end of the video, per Andrew Lopez of The Times-Picayune.
