It's not a sustainable winning formula — getting wildly outshot — but the Philadelphia Flyers will take wins any way they can get them these days. It certainly helps when their players are scoring hat tricks, however. James van Riemsdyk notched his hat trick in a 7-4 win against the Minnesota Wild on Monday, and it was Sean Couturier's turn with his first career regular season hatty in a 4-3 win against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday Night Hockey on NBCSN. His new Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was nowhere in sight, but Martin Truex Jr. seemed worried he hadn't donned his helmet Wednesday night – at a hockey game. The 2017 Cup champion spent the first period between the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins benches as the featured guest of “Inside The Glass”, where he was “excited and nervous, maybe a little bit scared” to fulfill his goal of seeing “how close I can get to that puck without it actually hitting me. Flyers mascot Gritty gives Mike McKenna thrill of a lifetime with autographed mask originally appeared on nbcsportsphiladelphia.com What an honor for Mike McKenna. Not only did he get to meet Gritty Wednesday night, but he also got the Flyers' mascot to sign his mask, which sports a drawing of the fuzz ball (see story). Looks like Gritty didn't love McKenna questioning his pregame meal - it's obviously 10 plates of pasta … the guy needs fuel. Continue to Article

Montreal Canadiens forward Paul Byron received a three-game suspension for charging MacKenzie Weegar of the Florida Panthers during Montreal's 5-1 win on Tuesday. The Department of Player Safety explains that Byron “launches up and into a forceful check” while making “significant contact” with Weegar's head. The explanation video circles back to Byron's skate leaving the ice, postulating that Byron “launched himself excessively upward” to make the hit. Continue to Article
