Atlanta
The Philadelphia 76ers missed Joel Embiid's impact in clogging the paint and experienced a night to forget against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, especially in the final seconds. Embiid missed the game because of a sore right ankle, injured in Wednesday night's loss to Washington, but the 76ers hope to have him back Sunday afternoon when they visit the New York Knicks. Without him for the third time this season, the Sixers allowed 62 points in the paint, got outrebounded 44-30 and took a 123-121 home loss. Continue to Article

Atlanta
Joel Embiid was out (sore ankle) and the Atlanta Hawks feasted in the paint Friday night. The Hawks scored 62 points in the paint, 10 more than their season average, outrebounded the 76ers 44-30, and when Atlanta needed a game winner they could post up John Collins without fear and he knocked down the shot. Philadelphia could have sent the game to overtime, they had two tries at a tip-in off a missed free throw as time expired, but both bounced off the rim. Continue to Article

When the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks met slightly more than a week ago, the game was over before it even began. Now the young Atlanta team gets a second shot at one of the league's hottest teams when it hosts the Bucks Sunday in a rematch at State Farm Arena. Milwaukee won that game 144-112 on Jan. 4, the first time Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer matched up against his former team. Continue to Article

Tomas Satoransky got a bottled-water shower from his teammates and a postgame handshake from team president Ernie Grunfeld. The big game for the lanky Czech point guard was cause for celebration for the Washington Wizards, who are playing cohesively with Satoransky starting in place of the injured John Wall. Satoransky had 18 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and 10 assists in his first career triple-double, helping Washington beat the Milwaukee Bucks 113-106 on Friday night. Continue to Article

The Boston Celtics reached the halfway mark of the 2018-19 NBA season Thursday night in their loss to the Miami Heat. After a disappointing start to the season that saw them sit at 10-10, the Celtics are now 25-16 thanks to a 15-6 record over the last 21 games. A change in the starting lineup has been the catalyst to the recent surge: Marcus Morris and Marcus Smart entered the starting five, replacing Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward. Continue to Article
