The Colorado Avalanche found out Friday they are going to be well represented at the Jan. 26 All-Star Game in San Jose. Captain Gabe Landeskog won the "Last Man In" fan voting and will join linemates Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen in the event. If any team needs some good news, it is Colorado. Continue to Article

Things have reached more than a mild simmer with the Colorado Avalanche. While dropping their eighth game over the last nine on Wednesday night in Calgary, cameras caught superstar centre Nathan MacKinnon and head coach Jared Bednar barking venomously at one another on the Avalanche bench. It's unclear what caused the blow-up (neither was apparently asked about it after the game) or exactly what was said, but the exchange of pointed words was intense enough for MacKinnon to literally fall off the bench when captain Gabriel Landeskog attempted to intervene. If New York Rangers coach David Quinn has one message for his team heading into Sunday's game at Arizona, it's this: Stay out of the penalty box. The Rangers gave up 10 power-play opportunities to the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night in a 6-1 defeat despite a season-high 41 saves from rookie goaltender Alexandar Georgiev, who was giving Henrik Lundqvist a night off. "You have zero chance to win a hockey game in that way," Quinn said. Continue to Article

Montreal
The Vancouver Canucks can not seem to have nice things. Early in the second period of Thursday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, their prized rookie, forward Elias Pettersson, was knocked out of the game with what the team is calling a “lower-body injury” after he was hauled down away from the play by Jesperi Kotkaniemi. You can see the play in the video above, and it's definitely a strange one because Kotkaniemi seemed to commit at least two different penalties on the play and was not called for any of them.
