This is the first time the two squads have seen each other since Tom Wilson's hit Oskar Sundqvist in the preseason. At the time neither two sides seemed to show aggression with each other afterwards. Matt Murray returned to the lineup Dec. 15, rejuvenated after missing 13 games with a lower-body injury. What a spark he's provided for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Well this had to be a very, very, very satisfying win for the New York Islanders. In their first game against former captain John Tavares since he left for the Toronto Maple Leafs in free agency this past summer, the Islanders rolled to a 4-0 victory on Saturday night and continued their recent strong play. With Saturday’s win the Islanders have now won six of their past seven games and continue to exceed expectations this season as they push for what would be an unexpected playoff spot. When the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the New York Islanders on Saturday night many were tuned in to see how a certain star would perform against his former club. Midway through the contest, John Tavares clashing against the Isles for the first time since leaving the team in free agency was no longer the story of the game.
