The old cliché is that it's "a four-point game" whenever divisional rivals get together during the regular season. There's no question it's become a phrase that's lost some of its meaning and oomph along the way with each and every usage, but the basic truth holds true: A regulation win against a direct competitor for a playoff spot is massive each and every time it happens. Both the Bruins and the Sabres are tied with 50 points apiece through 41 games, though the B's have a three-game ROW (Regulation Overtime Wins) advantage over the Sabres right now. Housley said the Sabres will be without Eichel again Saturday when they play at the Boston Bruins. "It's a day-to-day situation, which is really encouraging," Housley told NHL.com. "But we want to be cautious with it as well. Continue to Article

David Pastrnak on pace for Bruins' first 50-goal season in a quarter-century originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com It's been a quarter-century since a Bruin reached the 50-goal mark, but maybe -- just maybe -- this is the year that streak ends. David Pastrnak is on pace for exactly 50 goals after tallying his team-high 25th goal of the season Thursday night in a 6-4 B's victory, a backhanded score that beat Calgary goalie Mike Smith off a Torey Krug pass from the opposite blue line. With the B's now at the official halfway point of the season after 41 games, the first-time All-Star is on track for a 50-goal season. Continue to Article

Buffalo
A lot has gone right for the Buffalo Sabres so far this season, which is not something you'd say about this franchise since … the Chris Drury days, maybe? Things can fall apart alarmingly quickly in the modern NHL, however, and the Sabres face some challenges as 2018 turned to 2019. Consider that, after their stunning 10-game winning streak, the Sabres enjoyed a 17-6-2 record, even briefly earning a spot atop the entire NHL. Continue to Article
