Dallas
The Dallas Stars aren’t good. Few would dispute this. They’re plugging away in the standings, sure (largely because Ben Bishop is going off this season), but their underlying numbers are terrible and their offense is subpar. Actually, that’s putting it kindly. They’re 27th in goals per 60. And that’s after being below-average last year as well, at 18th. Now, team CEO Tim Lites said in an expletive-filled rant that the problem really lies with the Stars’ big-money men, Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. His owner, apparently, signed off on that evaluation. ... Continue to Article

The Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars enter their New Year's Eve tilt at American Airlines Center heading in opposite directions, but both clubs hope to end 2018 with a victory. Montreal (20-14-5) is concluding a six-game road trip and is 3-2-0 on after a 6-5 loss at Tampa Bay on Saturday. The Canadiens are 10-7-3 on the road this season. Continue to Article

Dallas
The back-and-forth verbal battle between the CEO of the Dallas Stars Jim Lites and the team’s two top players has drawn the bulk of the attention in NHL headlines over the last weekend. On Sunday, the NHLPA acknowledged that they were also very aware of the situation and released a statement speaking out against the profanity-laced tirade voiced by Lites. On Friday, Lites went on record with reporters about the state of the team, calling out star players Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin for their roles on the team as Dallas could be in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Dallas
Jamie Benn hit back at accusations by upper management that he is not pulling his weight with the Dallas Stars this season, saying he's more concerned about what his teammates and coaches think. Stars chief executive Jim Lites ripped into the team captain on Friday describing his play as "terrible" and claiming Benn is making mistakes that would get a youth hockey player benched. "I don't play for him (Lites)," Benn said at practice on Saturday. Continue to Article

Dallas
With the Dallas Stars stumbling along to yet another mediocre and completely pointless season, tensions are running high and fingers are being pointed. This is nothing new in the world of professional sports, and especially the NHL, where the people at the top of the payroll will always take the fall when things go poorly, whether they are the ones most responsible for it or not. This is over-the-top, extremely vicious, and irrational ranting from, of all people, the team’s very own CEO, Jim Lites. Continue to Article
