The NHL on Friday suspended Boston Bruins forward David Backes three games without pay for what the league called "an illegal check to the head" of New Jersey Devils forward Blake Coleman. The hit happened during the Devils' 5-2 victory in Boston on Thursday. Flat' loss with almost full Bruins lineup shows they still have work to do originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com BOSTON – Well, the Bruins learned the hard way they're still going to have to grind even if they have close to their full roster back. On a night where Zdeno Chara, Kevan Miller and Jake DeBrusk returned from injuries and gave Boston close to a full, healthy roster for the first time in months, the Bruins didn't look like an energized group buoyed by their returning players. It’s been a busy few months for Martin Brodeur. In August, he left his position as St. Louis Blues assistant general manager to take on the role of executive vice president of business development with the New Jersey Devils, the franchise that he spent 1,259 of his 1,266 NHL games with. A little over two months later he was inducted as part of the 2018 Hockey Hall of Fame class. “I think the fact that I played the game of hockey, I think there’s a lot of value for the business people here to kind of pick my brain about what the game’s all about, what the players are comfortable and not comfortable to do,” Brodeur said. When Taylor Hall was asked in the offseason who is the toughest goalie to play against, he'd say Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky made 39 saves, Artemi Panarin had a goal and an assist, and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the New Jersey Devils 3-0 on Sunday for their fourth consecutive victory. ''I don't know if it's just like us he plays like that.'' Hall said. Continue to Article
