After dropping a 2-1 decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night the Minnesota Wild find themselves stuck in a three-game losing streak and have now lost 10 of their past 15 games, keeping them on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture. The Wild announced on Friday that defender Mathew Dumba will undergo surgery next week for an “upper-body injury” and is set to miss a significant amount of time. “We won’t know [an exact timetable] until they get in there,” said general manager Paul Fenton, via the Wild’s website. For the Minnesota Wild, the goals have been coming in bunches and then barely coming at all. Going into a game Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena, Minnesota (17-14-2) has just one goal over its past two games, including a 4-0 loss Tuesday against San Jose. Sharks coach Peter DeBoer never doubted going back to Martin Jones in net, even after he allowed three goals on seven shots before getting pulled in the first period of San Jose's previous game. Jones has always bounced back quickly and he did it again Tuesday night as the Sharks continued their December roll. Logan Couture scored twice and Jones made 26 saves for his first shutout this season and the 20th of his career in San Jose's 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Continue to Article

On Monday, the Minnesota Wild got some good news on the injury front as well as bad news. They will regain the services of captain Mikko Koivu for Tuesday night's visit from the San Jose Sharks, but will have to do without Matt Dumba this week after he suffered an upper-body injury in the first period of Saturday's 2-1 loss to Calgary.
