Community Picks: Colorado 0% vs Vegas 0%

Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche, Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, and Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals have been voted captains of the 2019 NHL All-Star Game. Matthews (Atlantic), Ovechkin (Metropolitan), MacKinnon (Central), and McDavid (Pacific) will represent their divisions during the annual three-game, 3-on-3 tournament to be held at SAP Center in San Jose, Jan. 25-26. This will be the second All-Star Game appearance for Matthews, the third for both MacKinnon and McDavid, and the seventh for Ovechkin. Compher scored two short-handed goals on the same power play in the earlier Avalanche-Coyotes game. While there’s some optimism about Subban maybe returning soon, the Predators may be without Arvidsson and Forsberg for quite a bit longer, which is troubling because Nashville’s mostly on the road until mid-January. Disconcertingly, the Predators began a road-heavy run with losses to what looks like two non-playoff teams, as they fell 4-3 in OT to Ottawa on Monday, then suffered a 2-1 regulation loss to Chicago on Tuesday. The return of forward Jaden Schwartz from injury Tuesday means the St. Louis Blues put him back on a line with Brayden Schenn and David Perron. The pairing provided immediate dividends in Schwartz's first game back, a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, with Perron scoring twice, Schwartz assisting both times and Schenn assisting once. DENVER (AP) -- - Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon put on a show that made Cole Harbour proud, and it was MacKinnon who walked away with bragging rights for the Nova Scotia town. MacKinnon had a goal and three assists, including one on Gabe Landeskog's tiebreaking score midway through the third period, and the surging Colorado Avalanche overcame Crosby's natural hat trick to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 on Wednesday night.
