As accustomed as the Chicago Blackhawks are to winning, dealing with losing certainly hasn't been easy. This season has gone terribly for the Chicago Blackhawks and the bad news piled on Sunday when Corey Crawford suffered another concussion. Things have looked just a touch better this week though. With Friday’s 2-1 win over Colorado, the Blackhawks are now on their first three-game winning streak of the season. Goalie Collin Delia made his NHL season debut and got the win with 35 saves. Alex DeBrincat reached the 30-point milestone, demonstrating once again that he’s one of the main sources of hope for the Blackhawks in the long-term, and Artem Anisimov sealed the deal. Chicago is still just 13-19-6, which puts the Blackhawks seven points behind Edmonton in the Wild Card race despite the fact that Chicago has played in three more games. It could be argued that these wins are actually hurting the Blackhawks in the long run given that their best hope now is winning the draft lottery. Reigning NHL MVP Taylor Hall scored two goals and added two assists as the New Jersey Devils routed the Ottawa Senators 5-2 on Friday night in Newark, N.J. The Devils' Kyle Palmieri also scored once, giving him a team-best 18 goals, and had two assists. Pavel Zacha and Nico Hischier scored New Jersey's other goals. In the years the Chicago Blackhawks were annual Stanley Cup contenders, the Colorado Avalanche seemed to find ways to beat them despite being a perennial lottery team. The script is flipped this season and it's the Blackhawks who are struggling while the Avalanche are near the top of the Western Conference standings. They used five goaltenders down the stretch, one of which was 36-year-old accountant Scott Foster in an emergency situation.
