Even after last years Stanley Cup run, theres still something extra in the Capitals-Penguins rivalry originally appeared on nbcsportswashington.com The Capitals finally changed their playoff narrative last season with the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship and they went through their biggest rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, to win it. Washington's run last season changed the nature of the Caps-Penguins rivalry, but if you think it made it any less meaningful, you are very much mistaken. "No, I don't think they process it as a normal game," Caps head coach Todd Reirden said of his player's preparation for Wednesday's game against the Penguins. Continue to Article

Even though they are playing their best hockey of the season, expect the Washington Capitals to find a little something extra in the tank Wednesday when the Pittsburgh Penguins come to town for the next chapter in this storied rivalry. "It's always something you kind of look forward to and know about," Washington coach Todd Reirden told reporters. Washington
Alex Ovechkin entered God Mode on Friday night to lead the Washington Capitals back from a 4-1 deficit in a 6-5 shootout win. The only thing that Ovechkin didn’t do on the night was score the shootout winner, which he had a chance. Still, Ovechkin recorded his second hat trick in as many nights and helped spark an epic comeback from the Capitals who, at one point, didn’t look like they showed up in Raleigh. Continue to Article
