Christian Folin had a flashback to his rookie season this morning. As he arrived through the back door of Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey, the familiar face of Chuck Fletcher was the first guy he saw. Folin is the only current Flyers player familiar with Fletcher's business acumen, having played for him as a rookie in 2014 until he left the organization for Los Angeles in 2017. Continue to Article

The New York Islanders knew what to expect. As the players and staff drove home from Saturday morning’s skate at their practice facility not far from Nassau Coliseum, they saw fans already in the arena parking lot tailgating, preparing for the team’s return to the old barn on Hempstead Turnpike. A minute and 15 seconds after Sidney Crosby gave Pittsburgh an early 1-0 lead on the opening shift of Saturday night's game, Wayne Simmonds asked Penguins hulking defenseman Jamie Oleksiak to engage in a fight knowing he was surrendering five inches in height and 60 to 70 pounds in weight. "I just went up and I asked him immediately and I was happy he said, ‘Yeah,'" Simmonds said. You have to admire Wayne Simmonds. The Flyers, desperate for life and fire during a hellish week, had just allowed a goal 39 seconds into their game against the Penguins, to Sidney Crosby no less. The Flyers' new general manager will have a difficult decision on Simmonds, who can become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason (see story). If the Flyers continue to slide and their 2018-19 season looks more and more lost, Simmonds will be a popular trade candidate ahead of the Feb. 25 deadline. Continue to Article
