Conor Sheary and Carter Hutton gave the surging Buffalo Sabres another full two points in the standings. Sheary scored in the seventh round of a shootout, Hutton stopped 25 shots and the Sabres beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Friday night for their fourth straight victory. Buffalo
When the schedule came out during the summer, Minnesota Wild fans might have looked at Saturday's visit from the Buffalo Sabres as a pretty sure two points. Defenseman Josh Morrissey was his usual tower of strength in shutting down the high-octane Capitals attack but his body slam of forward T.J. Oshie late in the third period left his participation in Friday's game against the Buffalo Sabres in doubt. The two got tangled up battling for the puck and it appeared the Jets rearguard could just as easily have ended up on the bottom. Continue to Article

Buffalo
The Buffalo Sabres seem to be finally — finally! — taking some sort of a significant step toward regaining relevance in the NHL. Thanks to their 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night, they were able to pick up their 10th win and improve to 10-6-2 on the young season. This, of course, is major progress in Buffalo. Continue to Article
