It appears that Pekka Rinne will finish his career in the place it started. The Nashville Predators locked up the 36-year-old netminder on a two-year extension, a lead that will pay him $10 million over its course ($6 million in 2019-20, $4 million in 2020-21). Whatever they were sipping on, the Preds were absolutely out of their collective minds during the first period of their clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning, busting out a pair of ghastly goals 14 minutes apart to take a two-zip lead into the break. With big ol’ Braydon Coburn draped all over his anatomy, Turris reacted to the Mattias Ekholm point shot the same way any of us would.
