San Jose
Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs isn't the only goal-scorer lighting it up in the NHL. Take a look at Kyle Palmieri of the New Jersey Devils. Palmieri scored two goals for the third straight game and the Devils rallied from their first deficits of the season to beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Sunday. Continue to Article

Of course, Joe Pavelski and Evander Kane scoring two goals a piece was a big boost for the Sharks offensive attack. Tuesday's tilt was, without a doubt, a full team effort from the San Jose Sharks. After the win, Pavelski told NBC Sports' Keith Jones the team's success on Tuesday could be attributed to pucks bouncing in the Sharks' favor, and the fact that "guys made a few plays along the way." The Flyers might have put on the pressure early Tuesday night, and the crowd might have been extra excited with the arrival of their googly eyed new mascot, Gritty. Sharks coach Peter DeBoer threw his offensive lines into the blender ahead of the team's game in Philadelphia, and the changes brought out the best in the San Jose squad. On Monday, the Flyers announced that he would “celebrate the home opener with a dramatic grand entrance” for the team’s home opener on Tuesday night when the team hosted the San Jose Sharks. It wasn’t quite on the same level as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim entrance we highlighted earlier in the day, but it was still a pretty grand entrance. Unfortunately for the Flyers there was nothing Gritty (hold your boos!) about the Flyers’ first period effort as they surrendered four goals to the Sharks and faced a 4-0 deficit heading into the first intermission. After watching the Perfection Line drop five goals and 11 points on the Ottawa Senators just a few days after Brad Marchand racked up assists on all four goals in the 4-0 shutout against the Buffalo Sabres, it's clear that the Bruins top line is rolling. It also seems like the Bruins fourth line is jelling after the B's smartly decided to drop Sean Kuraly back to the fourth-line center between hard-hitting, smash-mouth wingers Chris Wagner and Noel Acciari. Wagner scored his first goal as a member of the Bruins in Monday's 6-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on a high tip of a Charlie McAvoy point shot, and it looked like the three forwards were already getting comfortable with each other.
