For those hoping that the Bruins would have a full-blown goalie controversy two games into the regular season, you may have to hit the pause button for a little while. Bruce Cassidy stopped just short of confirming Rask as the starter for the Monday afternoon home opener against the Ottawa Senators, but did indicate the plan all along has been for Boston's No. 1 guy to get back between the pipes for the Columbus Day matinee. It might have seemed like a little less than a sure thing based on the first two games with Rask getting pulled from Opening Night after allowing five goals on 19 shots and backup Jaroslav Halak pitching a 32-save shutout against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. With two vastly different outcomes in the books, the Bruins are off and running in their regular season. Questions obviously still abound about how much this team is the one that rolled over and died against the Washington Capitals Opening Night and how much is the team that looked very sharp at both ends in a shutout win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. With some sensational rookies in the mix and Jeff Skinner replacing Ryan O'Reilly, this is a new-look Buffalo Sabres team. It’s tough to blame Sabres fans for being frustrated, even if it was just the first of 82 games (and 41 at home).
