NY Yankees
The New York Yankees take aim at baseball's single-season home run record, a day after tying the mark of 264 set by the 1997 Seattle Mariners. The Yankees connected four times Friday night in Boston, with Aaron Judge hitting the homer that matched a Mariners club that included Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez, Jay Buhner and Edgar Martinez. The Yankees are the only franchise with more than 15,000 home runs, nearly 1,400 more than the second-place Giants, according to baseball-reference.com. Continue to Article

Boston
The New York Yankees' power prowess has tied the two-decades-old major league record for the most home runs by a team in a season. When Aaron Judge hit his 27th of the year and the Yankees' fourth of the game in the eighth inning of their 11-6 win Friday night in Boston, it gave the Bronx Bombers 264 homers for the season, matching the number hit by the Seattle Mariners in 1997. The win also clinched the right to host the American League wild-card game on Wednesday against Oakland, with the winner advancing to face the Red Sox in the Division Series next Friday in Boston. Much has changed since Los Angeles Angels left-hander Tyler Skaggs threw one of his best games of the season against the Oakland A's on June 15. Skaggs has since been on the disabled list three times, while the A's morphed into the hottest team in baseball over the next three months, making up a 10-game deficit for the final American League wild-card spot and, ultimately, clinching a postseason berth on Monday. Skaggs is scheduled to start Saturday night against the A's at Angel Stadium, the fifth time he'll take the mound against Oakland this season. Continue to Article

Boston
Having secured the home-field advantage for the American League wild-card game, the New York Yankees seek their 100th win of the season in the second game of the final regular-season series against the Boston Red Sox Saturday. Lance Lynn pitches for the Yankees, who haven't won 100 games since winning the World Series in 2009, against former Yankee Nathan Eovaldi, who has pitched his way into the postseason starting rotation for Boston. The Yankees have hit seven home runs in the last two games to pull into a tie with the 1997 Seattle Mariners for the all-time major league record for home runs -- with 264. Continue to Article

Boston
Giancarlo Stanton wrapped the third inning with a dramatic RBI single, but the Yankees did most of their damage in the fourth after Gleyber Torres drove in two runs on a replay-challenged double, followed by Andrew McCutchen‘s RBI single and Aaron Hicks‘ three-run 398-footer off of William Cuevas. Following another two homers from Luke Voit and Aaron Judge, the latter of whom had yet to produce a single home run since mid-July, the Yankees brought their home run total to 264 on the season — not only a franchise best, but enough to tie the 1997 Mariners for the most in MLB history, too.
