On a day in which the Caps saw their Stanley Cup championship banner raised to the rafters and then went on to blow out the Boston Bruins 7-0 in the season opener, the players were still fired up after the game over the Wilson news. "If I'm going to say what I think, they're going to suspend me too," Evgeny Kuznetsov said. "I think it's unfortunate for Tom that the league is making an example out of him," T.J. Oshie said. T.J. Oshie opened the scoring 24 seconds in and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the first of his two goals at 1:47 to give Washington the fastest first two goals by a defending champion in a season opener in NHL history. Brad Marchand is back to doing Brad Marchand things. Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand wasted no time re-introducing the hockey world to Brad Marchand on the NHL’s opening night. Unhappy with Washington’s celebration after the Caps took a 7-0 lead in the third period of a frustrating game for the Bruins, Marchand went full scum-bag mode and jumped Eller before delivering two massive bombs to the Capitals forward’s grill and landing a third, extra sleazy haymaker as Eller was falling to the ground.
