The season finale between the New York Mets and New York Yankees was postponed because of rain Sunday night and will be made up on Aug. 13 at 7:05 p.m., previously an off day for both teams. The Yankees will be in the middle of a long homestand anyway, although the makeup game means they'll now play 20 days in a row during that stretch. The New York Mets placed pitcher Noah Syndergaard on the disabled list on Sunday with hand, foot and mouth disease which he may have contracted at a youth clinic during the All-Star Break. The viral infection characterized by sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet and is common among children. MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports that Mets starter Noah Syndergaard will be placed on the 10-day disabled list because he contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease. According to James Wagner of the New York Times, it is believed that Syndergaard picked up hand, foot, and mouth disease working at a youth camp during the All-Star break.
