Robinson Cano's return to the Seattle Mariners' lineup when he becomes eligible Aug. 14 may include a change of position, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto. Without their everyday second baseman in the lineup, the Mariners have turned to Dee Gordon at second. The Seattle Mariners announced Friday they have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract extension with manager Scott Servais. Servais, 51, was hired in 2016 following 10 years in player development roles. The Mariners are 222-199 (.527) during his tenure, making Servais the fourth-winningest manager in franchise history. The tranquil, apple-growing community of Wenatchee doesn’t exactly scream “junior hockey powerhouse.” But the Wenatchee Wild just had as many players drafted to the National Hockey League as the Seattle Thunderbirds, Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans combined.
