Franklin Barreto hit two home runs, racking up six RBIs, and Sean Manaea delivered a strong start as the surging Oakland Athletics won their fifth straight game with an 11-2 victory over the sloppy Chicago White Sox in Game 1 of a Friday doubleheader at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Eloy Jimenez was the headliner in a ridiculously large number of promotions throughout the organization that signaled that despite a 25-games-under-.500 record at the big league level, the rebuilding effort is progressing nicely. Corey Kluber shut down the White Sox and became the first pitcher with 11 wins this season. Kluber allowed one hit over seven dominant innings and retired his final 14 batters Wednesday as the Cleveland Indians routed Chicago 12-0.
