Anthony Rizzo's seventh home run of the season gave the sleep-deprived Chicago Cubs an early lead on Monday afternoon. Rizzo slid hard into Pittsburgh catcher Elias Diaz while being forced out at home in the eighth inning, taking out Diaz's legs, forcing a wild throw into right field. The St. Louis Cardinals will get Alex Reyes, their top pitching prospect, back next week, and because of an extended recovery time from Tommy John surgery, he won't be restricted in his use, according to the team's president of baseball operations. Reyes, 23, who suffered an elbow injury last spring and needed ligament reconstruction surgery, offered a glimpse in 2016 of what the Cardinals have waited for: a 1.57 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 46 innings.
