Cleveland Indians left-hander Andrew Miller visited a specialist on Tuesday to have his injured right knee examined. Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti told reporters that there isn't any indication -- at least now -- that the star reliever may need surgery. Justin Verlander pitched effectively into the seventh inning, and Jose Altuve homered as the Houston Astros beat the New York Yankees 5-1 on Monday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. Verlander (7-2) gave up a seventh-inning homer to Greg Bird among five hits in 6 2/3 innings. The Pirates are upset with Anthony Rizzo after the Cubs star slid hard into catcher Elias Diaz while being forced out at home Monday afternoon, and tensions could spill over as the teams resume their series. Rizzo claimed he ''wasn't trying to hurt anyone'' when he went leg-first into Diaz, who had already touched home plate for the force out and was a full step in front of the base. The Cleveland Indians took advantage of their extra chances Monday. Edwin Encarnacion homered and had four RBIs, and the Indians capitalized on three errors to score five times in the fifth inning for a 9-6 win over the Chicago White Sox.
