For the first time in months, Andrew McCutchen woke up Friday morning in his own bed. For lunch, he stopped by his favorite pizza spot, and then he hopped in a car and drove to PNC Park, where he made his way through the players' entrance and started the long walk toward the Pittsburgh Pirates' clubhouse. Only this time, instead of breezing past the visitors' clubhouse as he did during his more than eight years serving as the fulcrum around which the franchise spun from irrelevance into contention, McCutchen turned left and joined the rest of the San Francisco Giants, where his familiar No. 22 jersey hung in an unfamiliar spot. Andrew McCutchen returned to Pittsburgh for the first time on Friday night, receiving a standing ovation from Pirates fans at PNC Park. As McCutchen approached the plate in the first inning, the Pirates honored their former star with a video tribute. Pirates fans also gave McCutchen a standing ovation, which lasted 90 seconds. The San Francisco Giants transferred right-hander Johnny Cueto to the 60-day disabled list Thursday as he recovers from a sprained elbow expected to sideline him six to eight weeks. The move means Cueto, originally placed on the 10-day DL on May 1, won't return to the rotation until June 30 at the earliest, as the Giants will exercise caution with the 32-year-old. With the open 40-man roster spot, the Giants promoted right-hander Jose Valdez from Triple-A Sacramento, optioning right-handed reliever Derek Law to Sacramento in a corresponding move.
