Boston's Fenway Park removed four fans on Wednesday for hanging a large banner that read 'Racism is as American as Baseball' during the fourth inning of a Red Sox game against Oakland. Red Sox spokeswoman Zineb Curran confirmed the incident to the Boston Globe. "During the 4th inning of tonight's game, four fans unfurled a banner over the left field wall in violation of the club's policy prohibiting signs of any kind to be hung or affixed to the ballpark," Curran said. Banners are very common in baseball games but Fenway Park security was quick to remove one draped on the Green Monster Wednesday night. This comes after an incident in Boston in which Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was allegedly called the "n-word" and had peanuts thrown at him at a game early in the season. Recently Red Sox ownership proposed that Yawkey Way near Fenway Park be renamed for David Ortiz. Continue to Article

Dennis Eckersley wants nothing more than for the fallout from an incident on the Red Sox's team plane earlier this season with David Price to go away. In an interview with WEEI, Eckersley spoke about the incident in which the Red Sox starter berated him on team charter plane in July. During the confrontation on the plane, Price allegedly stopped Eckersley when he was boarding and screamed at him to "get the f— out of here." Price also yelled at him a second time later in the flight. Continue to Article

Red Sox starter David Price threw a three-inning simulated game on Wednesday, one of the last hurdles before his eventual activation from the disabled list. Manager John Farrell will sit down with Price on Thursday to determine his role going forward. Price inked a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Red Sox after the 2015 season, but the last two years haven’t gone as planned for either side. Continue to Article

BOSTON — The group of five people who brought a banner into Fenway Park that read “Racism is as American as Baseball” were white anti-racist protestors, one of the group’s members told CSNNE on Wednesday night. “There were originally about eight people involved who had this idea, and those eight people come from various organizing groups in the Boston area,” the group member said by phone. “But overall, we saw, we see Boston continually priding itself as a kind of liberal, not racist city, and are reminded also constantly that it’s actually an extremely segregated city. "I guess we should have seen that coming but we also didn’t think of it as an ambiguous message," the group member said. Continue to Article

BOSTON — The pitcher sounds like he wants to go the distance, the manager sounds like he has a different idea. The age-old decision is about to play out in an unusual way: David Price’s potential role with the Red Sox for the start of the postseason.  Does the skipper or the pitcher make the call? In this case, it won't be so black and white, because health is a hazy question. Price and Red Sox manager John Farrell are to discuss the plan for Price on Thursday, a day after Price threw three innings with inning breaks at Fenway Park. Price faced Chris Young, Deven Marrero and Tzu-Wei Lin in his second sim game on the way back from an arm injury.  The way Price sounded on Wednesday, he wants to Continue to Article

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Athletics have settled on a location for their proposed new ballpark: the site near Laney College on a piece of land owned by Peralta Community College. The Laney College area is close to downtown Oakland  between Interstate 880 and Lake Merritt and is near a BART station. It was preferred by the club over the Oakland Coliseum site and land on the waterfront northwest of Jack London Square, the latter of which had traffic and accessibility concerns. Continue to Article
