A.J. Pollock hit three home runs and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-5 on Monday night in the opener of a four-game series between NL West rivals. Zack Greinke struck out a season-high 10 in six innings as Arizona beat Los Angeles for the 12th time in their last 13 regular-season meetings — six of seven this year. In the playoffs last year, however, the Dodgers cruised to a three-game sweep of the Diamondbacks. All three of Pollock's drives were solo shots in the first three-homer game of his career. The Colorado Rockies placed second baseman DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a right hamstring strain and activated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from the DL. ''I don't see it being more than (three or four days),'' he said before Colorado's series opener against the Chicago Cubs. The 29-year-old LeMahieu, a two-time All-Star, is batting .290 with five homers and 12 RBIs in 27 games. Continue to Article

The Colorado Rockies returned one starter but lost another to the disabled list, with second baseman DJ LeMahieu set for a stint on the sidelines. Colorado placed two-time All-Star and Gold Glove Award winner LeMahieu on the 10-day DL and activated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez prior to their MLB series with the Chicago Cubs on Monday. LeMahieu left Friday's 1-0 win against the Miami Marlins with hamstring tightness after an awkward slide in the third inning. Continue to Article
