Before the Mets' 5-1 win against the Padres on Friday night, Jay Bruce was taking reps at first base, which could mean fewer at-bats for  Adrian Gonzalez and more for Brandon Nimmo. This season, both Gonzalez and Bruce aren't off to the hottest starts. Gonzalez is hitting .203/.300/.322 with 2 HR and 12 RBI in 59 at-bats. Bruce is hitting .238/.307/.413 with 2 HR and 11 RBI in 80 at-bats.  Meanwhile, in limited action, Nimmo has been impressive but is stuck in an outfield logjam. Nimmo is hitting .296/.500/.593 with 1 HR, 2 RBI and 8 R in just 27 at-bats. Nimmo is behind Bruce, Michael Conforto and Yoenis Cespedes on the depth chart while getting a similar of number of at-bats as Juan Lagares. Continue to Article
